Dette kommer dere til å gjøre

As we head to the bus stop we'll walk through Tristán Narvaja street, where happens the main Montevideo flea market on Sundays and has its traces the rest of the week, hosting various antique shops and old-books stores. We can eat some bizcochos and then take a public bus to an old neighbourhood in the central area of the city, away from the coastal area where the upeer middle classes live and the tourists visit. In that ride we'll pass by Palacio Legislativo. When we get off the bus and start walking we'll visit an old social housing development that let its mark in the whole area, Barrio Reus, and its popular cheap commercial area. We'll get to Mercado Agrícola de Montevideo (MAM), a newly restored old market with groceries, shops and food, and have lunch (not included). We'll then continue our walk to get to an old jailhouse that now holds a museum and a contemporary arts center, without being completely restored, which allows to see some of the jailhouse guts. In the whole tour we'll talk about the places, our society, the city, following the assistants interests. And we'll try to have a fast walking rythm so we can take our time in the places we want to. After the ending of the tour there is a follow-up you can do by yourselves, following the suggestions map which complements the experience.

I am an architect and I love history, art and cities. I also love Montevideo, discovering always a little bit more about it and looking for odd an insteresting places to show to a visitor. When travelling, what I like most is to understand the real city.
