Hi, my name is Jessika and I am the founder of Safarisource. At Safarisource, we connect local guides across Africa with travelers.
I grew up in Tanzania and would spend the weekends in the wilderness. I returned as a PhD researcher in 2013 and worked with the Maasai community in Ngorongoro. Here I first heard about the sharing economy and Airbnb. Together with Loserian, who heads Safarisource in East Africa, we decided that we must build a safari network that is more inclusive of local communities. We asked ourselves, how can we enable market access for the real local experts? Guided by principles of the sharing economy we founded Safarisource in 2017 and have since grown to offer tours and safaris with local guides in 30 African countries. We are really excited to now offer safaris through Airbnb.
