Dette kommer dere til å gjøre
We will meet each other and our horse friends at the Sandy Hook Equestrian Center, in Newtown CT. We will greet the horses, learning a bit about "horse etiquette." After a few simple stretching and breathing warm up exercises, first unmounted and then mounted, We will explore some of the "untold secrets" of which muscles to use and which to release to ride well. And find out why "less is more." We will breathe, in ways that science shows, soothe and energize our nervous system, and therefore -our horse's. Sessions will be tailored to the participants' skill level, from beginner to advanced. We will learn just how effective a work out it is to ride with high functioning biomechanics. If we take 100% responsibility for our own body weight, riding is a terrific work out. We will learn about a few of the instincts our horse has-that are often triggered by us humans- that get in the way of us agreeing with each other. The horse can't help it, Mother Nature installed the system. And often humans trigger these instincts- and then we think the horse is "stubborn" or stupid or crazy. Understanding these reflexes helps us avoid triggering them. we will "do different." Easier said than done, but we'll get a start on riding in a way that feels more buoyant, fair and collaborative. We will finish by taking care of our new friends and process what they helped us feel and learn
I have loved and ridden horses my entire life- teaching and training for 30 plus years, with background in various English disciplines. My obsession is integrating "Natural Horsemanship" and positive reinforcement ("clicker training.") There is a shift in horse culture happening- to more collaborative, safe, fun and effective training. Research shows these animals learn faster, retain longer and bond stronger with the handler! I manage the Sandy Hook Equestrian Center in Newtown CT, a beautiful and newly renovated 30 acre horse farm. I have published articles on helping our horses manage stress- in simple and scientific ways. I do frequent public demos and clinics on positive reinforcement and natural horsemanship. I am equally interested in human and animal psychology and have education and training in psychology and personal growth
