Venture with us into the Colorado desert to unearth the mysteries of the enormous beasts that once roamed these grounds. On this six-day road-trip adventure, we’ll dig into the prehistoric past of this wild and rugged terrain, traversing canyons, mountains, deserts, and dunes as we go.
This trip is offered by Atlas Obscura. Once you've reserved your spot, our team will be in touch to help you prepare for the trip. Please note that flights to and from Denver are not included in the trip cost.

I'm your Atlas Obscura Program Manager. Since 2016, Atlas Obscura has been offering unusual trips to the world’s most extraordinary places. Our itineraries are developed in close collaboration with the locals and insiders who host them—our global community of explorers, artists, researchers, and experts who grant us access to unique places and amazing experiences.
Your trip will be led by Dustin Growick. Dustin is the author of two dinosaur encyclopedias, the host of the YouTube channel The Dinosaur Show, and has worked in science education at the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Hall of Science, and as a traditional classroom teacher. Now, with museum colleagues around the world, Dustin specializes in creating unique, engaging, and educational experiences for people like you.

The trip begins and ends in Denver, but in between we'll be road-tripping across CO's deserts, dunes, and dinosaur dig sites. We'll visit the Black Canyon, Crestone, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and some gorgeous hot springs.
