I would like to share the colors, tastes and flavors of the traditional Mexican home cuisine. The Mexican gastronomy is made of an immense diversity of cultures. The variety of ingredients and flavors are awesome and never stops surprising us. The history behind every recipe is amazing and the combination between indigenous cultures and Spanish influence give us an invaluable experience.
This experience is a friends reunion. Everybody will experience how to prepare a traditional Mexican meal with quesadillas, gorditas, tlacoyos as appetizers. You also learn how to prepare the main salsas and guacamole that accomplish al the dishes and their different processes using a “molcajete"(green sauce, red sauce, guacamole, pico de gallo, habanero sauce). The experience includes a lesson to prepare your own hand-made tortillas. Then we'll have a testing of “tacos” of the special main dishes (cochinita pibil, robalo al pastor, romeritos, pollo c/mole) prepared at the restaurant.
While we cook, you will learn about history, indigenous vegetables, dried chiles and native corn.
The reunion is complete by a taste of beverages with season fruit water (aguas frescas) original mezcal from Oaxaca state, craft beer and mexican wine.
As a dessert we'll have craft ice cream and sorbets from Cuernavaca Morelos.
You will arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend.

I´m the founder of a restaurant in Mexico City. In one of the most popular neighborhoods. I have a degree in communication, journalism and advertising. I been working in restaurant business for more than 15 years. We prepare popular home made meals, with original processes and ingredients. Our cooks are called “MAYORAS” and it refers to the women that learn how to cook from their parents, their grandparents and the place where they born. They come from different parts of the country, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Puebla. They teach me all the secrets about traditional cook. The BEST experience in Mexico City! We booked this for the last day of our trip and it was amazing. The lesson and the food is all amazing and it’s a real taste of Mexican cuisine. So delicious and Vanessa gave us an amazing insight into Mexican food and how to prepare the popular dishes. We left feeling so full from all the delicious food. I highly recommend this experience!

A memorable way to spend an afternoon and get an introduction to the Mexican culinary tradition. As everyone says — it’s a generous amount of food (including refreshments, appetizers, mole and cochinita pibil tacos, side dishes, etc), so come prepared to eat! We enjoyed learning about and trying out different tools, techniques and ingredients, things like the local ‘weeds’ we wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Haz has had her restaurant for 15 years and has a wealth of knowledge about food and the changing face of Mexico City, so it was as much of a pleasure chatting as it was cooking with her. Recommend if you have a few days in CDMX!

Upon arrival we were handed a freshly made juice and were constantly eating and drinking until the end.
Complementing the incredible food was the rich history of each ingredient and dish. From learning about quelites to hand grinding our own tortillas and cooking them on the flattop, this was a fully immersive experience.
10/10 would recommend! You will not leave this class hungry!
